Sleek iPhone 17 Pro Render Reveals Matte Camera Design and Early Case Leaks

The iPhone 17 Pro isn't due to be officially revealed for another few months, but the hype is already building thanks to concept images, case leaks, and even mockups circulating online. Perhaps one of the most exciting new glimpses at the device is from an X (formerly Twitter) account holder known as kanedacane, who posted a new look at what Apple's next-generation Pro iPhone might resemble and it's making waves.

In the render shared by kanedacane, the iPhone 17 Pro gives up on the traditional two-tone design where the glossy camera island clashes with the matte back panel. Instead, the new design has a matte camera unit that transitions seamlessly into the rest of the body. Such a unifying appearance makes the camera bump seem less pronounced and adds to the sleek, minimalist look.

Fans have already started commenting. One posted, "This makes sense, it looks exactly the same as the latest generation iPad Pro," on the common design language. Another made an educated guess that "the camera bar will be slightly darker in tone on every color," and supplemented it with Apple could still experiment with fine contrast. And naturally, someone just had to make a cheeky "Hello, iPoco" joke, likening the appearance to a flat camera aesthetic common in Poco smartphones.

Although the iPhone 17 Pro has yet to be announced, case manufacturers are quite obviously not waiting. Insider Majin Bu posted on X that iPhone 17 Pro cases are already being produced way in advance of Apple's September event. Have a look here.

He also posted mockup pictures of the iPhone 17 Air and put its size into perspective compared to the future iPhone 16e. The iPhone 17 Air seems to have a thinner design and a single back camera, setting it apart from the faster Pro and Pro Max versions.

Fueling the fire, Unbox Therapy recently presented a mockup of the iPhone 17 Pro Max, courtesy of an accessory maker. The mockup design is in sync with recent leaks the new camera setup and thinner bezels adding weight to the possibility that Apple could indeed be going this way.

From design renders to actual mockups, the iPhone 17 lineup is already proving to be one of Apple's most polished and visually consistent lineups to date. With its understated matte camera design and streamlined form factor, the iPhone 17 Pro is possibly borrowing a page from the iPad Pro's book and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Time remains to acclimate to the new look prior to the anticipated September rollout, but with mockups and cases in the hands of rumor spinners already, one can't help but feel that iPhone design's future is playing out before our very eyes.
