Thanks to a source inside Google, Android Authority has shared (https://www.androidauthority.com/exclusive-google-pixel-9-cameras-3460690/) info about the camera modules that the Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL and 9 Pro Fold will be equipped with:
• Main module
It's just like the 8 series here: A 50MP Samsung GNK wide module.
• Ultra-wide module
The Pixel 9, 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL will get a brand-new Sony IMX858 (1/2.51" - 50MP) module.
• Telephoto module
The 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL will get the same set of cameras. The telephoto module will get the same sensor as the wide-angle module - Sony IMX858 (1/2.51" - 50MP) with optical stabilization. Last year's Pixel 8 Pro used a Samsung GM5 (1/2.55" - 48 MP)
• Thermometer
Both Pro models will retain the same infrared thermometer that was introduced in the Pixel 8 Pro — Melexis MLX90632.
• Front Camera
The regular Pixel 9 will have the same sensor used in the 8 series — Samsung 3J1, but this year it will get autofocus. Previously, autofocus on the front camera was exclusive to the Pixel 8 Pro, while the regular Pixel 8 used fixed focus.
The Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL will get the Sony IMX858 (1/2.51" - 50MP) as the front sensor.
• 8K video recording
The Tensor G3 and the Pixel 8 Samsung GNK main camera technically support 8K (7680×4320) video recording at 30 fps. However, Google has not yet implemented the feature.
However, it is reported that a future version of the Pixel Camera app will have support for 8K 30FPS video recording, but which models will support it is not yet known.
